North East Roofing Contractors Association (NERCA) a Success!

Hot off the heels of our late February trip to the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Las Vegas, Alpine SnowGuards® has just returned from another industry tradeshow – this year’s NERCA convention in Atlantic City, NJ.

Our own Kelly, Kris and Zach were supposed to fly out from Burlington, Vermont Tuesday evening, but Mother Nature had a different plan in store for them entirely.  Their flight was canceled just a few hours prior to boarding, and luckily, they were able to quickly change their flight, which would now leave first thing Wednesday morning out of Manchester, New Hampshire.  So off they went, on a 2 ½ hour road trip.

The convention was held at the posh Trump Taj Mahal Casino and Resort, which is known worldwide for its magnificence and opulence.  The show (thankfully) opened at 1:00pm.  After finally arriving at 10:45am, our crew sprang into action to unpack and set up display samples, vacuum our booth floor carpeting, and complete all the last-minute prep that accompanies exhibiting at tradeshows, including setting out the maple-leaf shaped maple sugar candies that are synonymous with Vermont, and are quickly becoming a tradeshow favorite.

The entrance to the show floor opened promptly at 1:00pm, and as the attendees filtered in,  Zach, Kris and Kelly found that while a smaller venue than IRE, the turnout was incredible and the folks from around the industry that attended and stopped by our booth were, as always, welcomed guests.  We have not exhibited at a tradeshow in quite a few years, and it was wonderful to see the influx of slate installers – sort of a “circle of life” moment, as slate is where it all began for us, back before we started doing business as Alpine SnowGuards.

While no sightings of “The Donald” were to be had, there were plenty of discussions with industry experts, leaders and tradespeople alike.  We enjoyed the camaraderie that only a tradeshow in our incredible industry can offer and are grateful for the chance to see many familiar faces, as well as for newly made connections.  A big THANK YOU to all who took the time to stop by and say hello!

The show wrapped up at 6:00pm on Thursday, and the 3 Alpiner’s who attended walked away feeling inspired and excited about returning home and following up with the connections made while at NERCA.

Wheels down on Friday afternoon, followed by the 2 ½ hour ride back to Vermont, and then home at last, to the snow-covered and frosty climate we are so accustomed to in our much-treasured state (as most of you in the North East can attest to, this past month should have been much warmer than the March we have willingly braved….but as I write this, I am happy to say we are finally inching into temperatures we should be seeing ….Spring may at last be ready to show her face.)

Plane Snowy road

Thanks so much to all who organized this amazing event, and who took the time to make the show the success that it was.  We feel fortunate to have been a part of it all.

Have a terrific April!  And if you play any April Fool’s Day pranks on anyone today, or are the recipient of one, let us know about it – we always love a good laugh!

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

We keep snow in its place.
