8 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Roofing Contractor to Replace Your Business’ Roof

On this snowy morning in the Green Mountains of Vermont….yes, it’s snowing (sigh)….I’m VERY excited to announce that we have a guest blogger to introduce!

I want you all to meet Adam Capps from UB Commercial Roofing in Columbus, Ohio.

Adam, meet our readers, who we absolutely adore!

Adam illustrates the reasons (8 to be exact) you should hire a roofing contractor when replacing the roof on your business. Since we’re a part of the roofing industry, either through our snow management systems / Alpine SnowGuards, or through our solar roof mounts and components, from EcoFasten Solar, we have a vested interest, and I thought it would be such a great experience to bring in Adam’s expertise….I mean, who ever really gets ENOUGH outside expertise? Not me, that’s for sure.

Now that you’ve “met” Adam, I’ll let him take it away. And Adam, I hope you come back again and share more soon!

Here are the 8 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Roofing Contractor to Replace Your Business’ Roof

1. REVIEWS

Vote_hands

Hiring a professional roofing contractor should allow you to read reviews about their previous work online.

2. WARRANTIES

The ability to get a manufacturer’s warranty is one of the greatest protections for business owners. This means that the manufacturer inspected and approved the work and you can rest easy.

3. INSURANCE

Professional Roofing Contractors are required, in most states, to carry large policy limits. This helps add a layer of protection for your business should something go awry.

4. EXPERIENCE

Roofer

No roof project is the same and the challenges they present require knowledge that is, more times than not, only attainable through experience. You should know that your roofing contractor can handle any situation that arises.

 5. WORKING CAPITAL

Commercial roofing can be very expensive and require a lot of capital on the front-end. It’s important that the company you choose has money in the bank to pay suppliers and employees in order to complete the job without lien’s being filed and employees quitting.

6. BILLING

As a business owner, you have a specific way you need to be billed. Roofing Contracting Companies should be able to accommodate those needs as long as they are stated on the front end.

7. OPTIONS

There are many different types of roof systems on the market today. Some of them may fit your needs better than others. Make sure you speak with a company that can explain those options to you and help you make the best decision.

8. COMMUNICATION

You need a professional organization that you can communicate well with throughout your roofing project. Make sure to hire a company that will designate a Project Manager to your build, so you always have a point of contact.

I like what this article mentions about roofing contractor being able to talk to you about all the different roofing options. It could be very helpful to know what sort of roofing options there are available, business or residential roof. I’ll have to keep this in mind when looking to of the roof replaced this summer. Thanks for the post!

As a roofing contractor myself, I could not have said this better myself! Great article, I’ll be sure to forward this to some clients, as you explain it so well. Nothing beats having the security knowing it was done right and can be taken care of and all factors can be dealt with through a professional.

    Great resourceful article.

    Thanks

Great article, I agree and definitely think it is important to hire a professional roofing contractor to get the job done right. The last thing you need as a business owner is more problems occur from trying to fix one.

  4. Joseph says:

This is a great informative article. All roofing issues should be handled by a professional roofing contractor as more damage can be done by someone who doesn’t have the knowledge of how to handle the situation properly.

Appreciating the time and energy you put into your blog and detailed information you offer. It’s awesome to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same unwanted rehashed material. Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.

I think the most important reason is that every roof is different and only an experienced roofer will be able to handle certain situations. As a roofer, sometimes it’s hard for me to put into words how important it is to hire a professional to do the work, but this article says it perfectly. Thank you!

Love how you modify the post to bring in some other experts in the field! Very cool, will be bookmarking this blog for sure. Need any other bloggers? 🙂

I’m a little more North than Adam, but i’m sure the weather patterns aren’t that much different and I love his tips! The big one for me is warranties. Always be aware of what they mean and how they can help!

    Again, cool page!

Great Article Jolene! As a owner of a roofing company, we try and educate our customers on how to choose the right roofer even if they decide that we’re not the best fit. Whats most important is that customers are educated!

    • Jolene Ciosek says:

Hi Adrian. Thank you! We agree – keeping customers educated is most important.
It’s a great feeling to be part of an industry that really cares about our clients, and each other.
      Take care.

I would also add that it’s important to build a strong relationship with your project manager from the get-go. As a roofing contractor, I’m very picky about who I’ll hire to do the project management. We’ve worked with clients in the past whose roofing jobs were completely botched by the contractors they had hired before finding us to “fix” the mess. And oftentimes, the root of the problem lay with an inattentive project manager. Thanks for sharing this article – all great reasons to research and hire a pro!

Hail damage in some cases is not immediately apparent and may become more evident in the months to follow. Often a buckled shingle is mistaken for wear an tear when in fact it is the result of severe weather. In such cases, the shingle(s) will continue to shift and deteriorate over the next few weeks and months to follow. In many of these situations homeowners have already been denied by their
insurance companies because they may have called their insurance company to soon. You should contact your local roofing company to inspect your roof and property and if any damage exists you can schedule a re-inspection with your insurance company and get the denied claim reversed and approved no matter how old or new your existing roof may be. DO NOT attempt to evaluate the damage yourself as most homeowners cannot differentiate hail damage from normal deterioration. Hope this helps…

This is a great article! I agree that one of the most important reasons to hire a professional roofer is that there is a warranty on it. My wife and I have gone back and forth on whether to hire a professional or not. I think that we should totally hire someone to do it because we wouldn’t have to worry about doing it wrong or the materials malfunctioning.

  12. Jason says:

I would say experience is the biggest factor when looking to hire a roofing contractor, especially for a large project like a commercial roof. All great points though and overall this is a very informative article for the average Joe who needs to find a good roofing company. I hope this reaches the people who need it!

  13. Roofer in Wesley Chapel, FL says:

I agree with Adrian’s comment above, the toughest part of the job sometimes is educating the customer. They know what they want, but don’t know what they need when it comes to roofing materials. Sometimes, as Adrian stated we aren’t the best roofing company for that customer. Great points!
