The International Roofing Expo (IRE) has grown considerably in the past few years. Vegas was the venue in 2014, and what a show it was, with 9,568 attendees – the largest attendance in the show’s history!
This year the show is headed to New Orleans, and will run from February 24th through February 26th. As I glanced through the Exhibitor listing it was clear that the roofing industry and the solar industry are finally aligning. In order to achieve a successful solar install, you need to know as much about the roof construction as you do about the panel function, and so it makes complete sense to have both industries representing, and attending the show this year. This trend will only continue to grow.
(If you would like to see the exhibitor listing in a different, more colorful way, check out the IRE board on Pinterest).
If you’re not planning on going, 2016 will be here before you know it, and there’s still plenty of time to register your company. If you ARE going, congrats – we’ll see you there! IRE promises that this Expo will inform, inspire, educate, and connect a diverse audience from every aspect of the industry.
Here are, in my opinion, the top 5 reasons your company should at least attend the show (in no particular order):
1. THE SHOW FLOOR
Showcasing the latest and greatest, as well as time-tested products and services that make our industry what it is – innovative, up to the minute, and cutting edge. Featuring well over a thousand exhibitors, representing a wide range of manufacturers, distributors, representatives, and more, IRE is the perfect place to be for anyone in the roofing industry. Last year, those in attendance included decision-makers from Architects, Contractors, Builders, Installers, Remodelers, Sales Managers, and Technicians, to name a few.
2. NETWORKING, NETWORKING, AND MORE NETWORKING
Over 10,000 attendees are expected at this year’s show, making the networking and business opportunities endless (I talked to someone, who knows someone, who told another someone….you get the idea). IRE is the ideal forum for meeting up with clients, vendors, manufacturer’s, future customers….you name it.
3. 44 CONFERENCE SESSIONS
Conference sessions are available that will cover highly interesting and educational topics so you can be sure to walk away from IRE with a wealth of newly acquired information in your back pocket. A sampling of the conferences include a 10-hour program from OSHA, industry code revisions, steep slope ventilations, winning customers for life, even a session on UL’s role in the roofing industry. Check out all the available conferences.
4. KEYNOTE SPEAKER
The Keynote speaker this year will be Ken Schmidt, the former Director of Communications for Harley-Davidson, who has remarkable insight in the areas of brand-building, customer relations and corporate positioning. Bill Good, Executive VP of the NRCA says, “Ken Schmidt is a brand visionary with proven ideas and concepts that can easily be applied to the roofing industry.”
5. HELLO! IT’S NEW ORLEANS!
The Big Easy is one of the most inspiring cities in the World, appealing to historians, adventurers, chefs, music lovers, photographers, sports fans, and countless others. Gumbo and crawfish, dim jazz clubs, street music, festivals, and historic, culturally-rich neighborhoods will greet you as you experience a unique melting pot of food, culture, and music.
Add to IRE a Business & Technology pavilion, Exhibitor Product Clinics, a Products Showcase, as well as a Welcome Party and even a Community Service Day, and this event is a proven win/win for all involved. If you go, take advantage of all that IRE has to offer and gain as much insight and information as you can while you’re there. And then take it home with you and share it with your co-workers, your customers, your partners, your supporters and your friends. The more we know, the more we grow.
