It’s hard to believe 2016 is here. Last year went by in what seems like the blink of an eye. Every year I ask the same thing, “HOW did that happen?”
2015 was a very abundant, productive year for EcoFasten Solar.
On the tradeshow front, we exhibited with our Sister Company, Alpine SnowGuards at the International Roofing Expo in February. The turnout in New Orleans was OK, but the weather in the rest of the country was horrendous and made travel difficult, so not as many people filtered through as we expected. We did notice however, that as the years go by, solar is becoming more prevalent at IRE and so there was definite value in us being there.
March brought growing anticipation of spring, and with it, PV America in Boston – a show that always surprises us, since it’s historically been held at a relatively small venue, comparative to other solar tradeshows, but yields such a great turnout with promising contacts and a “buzz” created throughout the industry that just can’t be ignored.
Between March and July summer appeared, and during this time, some serious gearing up for Intersolar North America was happening behind the scenes. Intersolar is always an amazing show, with all the major players present. Intersolar was particularly exciting for us, as we were set to launch our newest mounting solution, the UL 2703 compliant rail-free Rock-It System. Zach, our EcoFasten install trainer was in our booth to show how easy the system is to install, and Matt, our CAD Designer and Animator, created a spectacular installation animation that literally had people stopping in their tracks, as a line was formed that extended into the aisle, just to watch the video. It captures the ease of use that installers are always on the lookout for, and the response we received was off the charts. Since the show, many of our customers have started using the system, and Zach has been flying all over the country for trainings and Beta installs.
As summer weaned, and fall started to take hold, Solar Power International was next up. Another fantastic show with attendance that’s hard to beat. The success we enjoyed at Intersolar continued at SPI and more people than ever came to see us, and especially to see the Rock-It System installed, watch the install video, and to see what else was new.
Speaking of “new”, SPI also marked the launch of our newest low-slope mounting solution, SimpleGrip. (If you haven’t seen it, I wrote a blog about it, and we also held a webinar entitled, “Top Tips for Mounting on Low-Slope roofing”, which featured SimpleGrip). This product has definitely taken off and we’re very excited to have had 2 wildly successful product launches back to back (stay tuned for more to come in 2016!)
As tradeshow season winded down, and winter tried to settle in (which never really happened until last week – It was 65° up here in Vermont on Christmas Eve!) other areas started winding up. In December, the Solar ITC was extended and a collective sigh of relief could be heard throughout the industry (see what some companies, us included, had to say about the ITC vote).
Also in December, EcoFasten announced our relocation to Phoenix! This is in the works as I write this, and we’re beyond thrilled. Our rapid growth translated into us needing more space, more staff, and a location more central to serving the solar industry. We’ll keep you posted as the move progresses.
This brings us to today, January 12, 2016. This year we’ll launch more new solutions that we know will have installers smiling from ear to ear. We’ll also see many more new animations from the insanely talented Matt, all while enjoying our new location and all that it has to offer.
On top of everything else we have in the hopper, we’re excited to exhibit at the following tradeshows this year. Be prepared – 2016 will knock your socks off!
Boston, February 24 & 25
This is the same show that was formerly known as PV America, and is produced by SEIA and SEPA. Along with SPI, the proceeds from PV Conference & Expo will go towards the expansion of the industry, through both SEIA and SEPA’s research, education, communication, and research efforts. We’re already counting the days!
San Francisco, July 12 – 15
Did you know that Intersolar North America only started in 2008? You would think a show of this caliber had been around forever! Intersolar focuses on all things PV, is located in the heart of the first and largest solar market, and this year’s attendee turnout is expected to be around 18,000!
Las Vegas, September 12 – 15
Touted as the largest solar trade show in the U.S., SPI has recently been ranked as #25 of the fastest growing tradeshows, and like PV Conference & Expo, is powered by SEIA and SEPA. 2016 will mark the shows 13th year, with the focus always being on exchanging knowledge, ideas, and expertise to continue moving the solar industry forward.
Baltimore, October 26 – 28
Like last year, we’ll be co-exhibiting with Alpine SnowGuards at Metalcon 2016, which will be the shows 26th year! From a solar perspective, the roofing segment of the metal construction industry is a good match. With learning zones, roofing challenges, and 800 vendors, it’s a must-attend event for anyone in metal construction.
There will be many more exciting ventures for EcoFasten in 2016, and we can’t wait to share them all with you!
Until then….here’s to a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2016 for us all. Cheers!
