At Alpine SnowGuards, we pride ourselves on doing the right thing, as opposed to the easy thing.
Well, one such “right” opportunity presented itself recently, and I’m happy to have this forum as a way to tell you all about it! I’m referring to one of the systems that’s part of our July Special, the PP115 pipe-style system for membrane roofing.
The PP115 is, and has been, a core part of our business for a very long time. We’ve been manufacturing it since 2000. In all that time we haven’t had one person come back to us and say the system has leaked. Not one.
With over 1.2 million linear feet of PP115 in service (and growing), there’s enough to span the distance from TD Garden in Boston, all the way to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx! That’s over 200 MILES of PP115’s.
Coincidentally, both TD Garden AND Yankee Stadium have the PP115 installed on their rooftops!
The system is still made right here in the good ‘ole USA (Morrisville, Vermont to be exact), and has been laboratory-tested (report available on request), as well as field-tested.
In fact, the volume of manufacturing of our PP115 system has been at such great demand, that we’ve increased capacity through equipment processing techniques and have automated our manufacturing to the best degree possible. This is in great thanks to new equipment we’ve purchased, and a streamlined approach to production.
What does this mean for you? It means the same trusted product you’ve relied on for the past 18 years will continue to be an in-stock product, and will be even more readily available to meet your needs.
Here’s a little more info on the system itself:
First of all, the PP115 is durable and easy to install – take a look at this install video and you’ll see what I mean.
The PP115 system was designed specifically to be installed on metal decking or wood blocking. A compression seal is formed when flashed with a compatible target patch, by bolting the patch between the stainless steel base plate and the extruded aluminum bracket (base plate is 6” x 8” / bracket measures 4” x 6”).
The innovative system is available in 3 different configuration options to suit your project’s needs: 2-pipe, 3-pipe, and 2 hi-pipe, all accepting 1” OD Pipe for a rugged and attractive snow management solution.
The 2-pipe, 3-pipe, and 2 hi-pipe are all compatible with ice flags, and accessories are available including internal couplings, end collars, and end caps.
We’ve found that a lot of our clients have never heard of ice flags (and to be honest, I had never heard of them either, until I joined the crew here). Ice flags are an accessory to the snow guard system that hang from the pipe, adding additional surface area on the up-slope side of the system. Additional surface area also means additional snow management. Here’s what ice flags look like installed.
The system is available in mill finish or in a HUGE variety of eye pleasing TIGER Drylac® ral powder coating colors to match the roofing material.
Over the years we’ve received some great install images from our clients to add to our PP115 media library.
Here’s another (my favorite!) of the system installed on the roof of the Candler Building in Times Square, Manhattan. If you’re like me, and you’re interested in the history of the Candler Building, here’s a brief overview.
Some of the high-profile projects the PP115’s were also installed on:
- TD Garden – Boston, MA
- Camden Yards – Baltimore, MD
- Miller Park – Milwaukee, WI
- Yankee Stadium – Bronx, NY
- Capital One Arena – Washington D.C.
- Harvard Longfellow Hall
- Taos Ski Valley Hotel
- Copper Mountain, CO
- Santa Fe Ski Resort
- Brooklyn Naval Yard
- Villanova University Pavilion
- Mystic Seaport Museum – Mystic, CT
- Alchemist Brewery – Stowe, VT
And many, many more….Including this rooftop in Stowe, Vermont, which just also happens to be in our backyard (yes, we know we’re lucky!)
Learn more by visiting the PP115 product page on our website, and watch the installation video to get a better idea of just how easy the system is to install. While you’re at it, take a peek at all of the highly engineered snow management systems in our product line (we have over 60, not including all of the custom parts we produce!) We manufacture everything from traditional pad-style snow guards, to pipe-style, fence-style, and even solutions for managing snow on solar arrays.
Because the President & founder of Alpine SnowGuards is a former roofer, we know that the integrity of the roof comes first and foremost.
When it comes right down to it, I’m confident that you’ll agree: The PP115 is a pretty tough system to beat.
